Elena and the Threshold of Truth
It was a calm and sunny morning when Elena woke up, stretching her arms and feeling a slight cool breeze coming through the window. It was her day off, and the promise of a carefree day made her smile. After a moment of indecision, she decided that a morning walk would be best. The trail near her house had always provided her with a sense of peace, a simple, seldom-used path that allowed her to relax and clear her mind. However, that day, the usual calm she enjoyed was about to be unexpectedly interrupted.
The trail led into a dense forest, its tall trees creating a canopy that filtered sunlight into golden patches on the ground. Elena walked along, breathing in the fresh air deeply, when she began to notice something unsettling: a whisper of wind that seemed to carry a sense of unease. However, she kept going, trying to enjoy the simple pleasure of nature.
Returning home, Elena felt revitalized. She turned on the TV and, after browsing through the channels, stopped at a program about the Ark of the Covenant. As she watched, she began to reflect on the history and biblical artifacts, questioning the blend of fact and fiction. She wondered if religion was, in reality, the greatest restraint against chaos in society, more than the laws themselves.
As her mind wandered over the possibility of life on other planets and the idea that humans might have been created by another species, her thoughts took a disturbing turn. What if religion, with its stories of God, Heaven, and Hell, was actually a construct created by extraterrestrials to guide humanity? Could the Ark of the Covenant have been a radioactive weapon used to perform miracles? And Jesus, perhaps, an alien sent to correct the course of humanity?
Paranoia began to creep into her mind, intensified by a series of unsettling coincidences. While watching the movie Matilda on TV, the phone rang unexpectedly. It was Matilda, a friend of hers who had called by accident. The coincidence made her feel uncomfortable. Shortly after, a commercial for a well-known company appeared on TV, followed by the arrival of a truck from the same company passing by her house. Elena couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.

She went out to her garden and observed her neighbors, all mowing their lawns simultaneously without exchanging words or acknowledging each other. The perfect synchronization seemed strange to her. As she walked down the street, she noticed a car with a license plate matching her birthdate. The feeling of being watched grew stronger.
Elena decided to go to the forest, seeking refuge in the familiarity of the trail. As she ventured in, the neighbors suddenly stopped to silently watch her. The discomfort turned into a growing sense of paranoia; she felt that the entire world was watching her, that something had changed.

When she arrived home, she noticed something even more disturbing: the same movie was playing on every channel. She tried to read a book but found that her name had replaced the main character’s on every page. Reality seemed to be unraveling around her.
The next day at work, all the employees in the building were watching her from the windows with blank, unblinking stares. She received a call from her boss, who asked her unsettlingly, “What do you believe in, Elena?” The anxiety grew when, upon a visit from her brother, she noticed that his eyes had changed color. Her brother, or whoever had replaced him, posed the same disturbing question: “What do you believe in, Elena?”
The world began to flicker before her eyes, revealing giant, ominous figures that seemed to reach out toward her. The coincidences intensified, and the figures drew closer. Every attempt to communicate with others resulted in the same repeated question, as if an omnipresent force was examining her faith and sense of reality.
Convinced that these beings were our creators and that they were reaching out to her, Elena decided to surrender. She believed her destiny was to join them, and for the last time, she ventured into the forest, looking for a place to await the inevitable. She headed to a clearing and sat on a rock as reality repeated itself in an endless cycle.
But just as it seemed that reality was about to completely dissolve, a blinding light emerged from the ground beneath her feet. Elena felt herself levitate, surrounded by an intense light. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a vast white space, with a multitude of figures similar to the ones she had seen before, but now they appeared as luminous and benevolent beings. These entities, instead of reaching out to capture her, were extending their arms in a gesture of welcome.
One of the beings, who seemed to be the leader, spoke with a warm and serene voice: “Elena, you have proven yourself worthy of understanding the truth. We are not here to punish you but to offer you a new perspective. The reality you knew is just a superficial layer. In your search for truth, you have touched the essence of what we truly are.”
The light faded, and Elena found herself in a beautiful place, full of vibrant nature and tranquility. The luminous beings had transformed into guides who showed her a new universe, one where reality and illusion intertwined in ways she had never imagined.
When Elena returned home, the world seemed to have returned to normal, but now she understood that she had seen beyond the limits of reality. The coincidences, paranoia, and fear had been tests to lead her to a deeper understanding. And in the search for the unknown, she had found a new purpose.
Meanwhile, her brother Daniel continued searching the forest, unaware that Elena had transcended to a new level of existence. However, the notebook he had found, filled with his sister’s unsettling reflections, became a testament to the extraordinary journey she had experienced. Daniel’s search persisted, guided by the hope that one day, the truth about Elena and her transformation would be fully revealed.
