”The Blackout Club” Review

A Gripping Cooperative Horror Undermined by Repetitive Gameplay ‘’The Blackout Club’’ invites up to four players to assume the roles of clever American teenagers who band together to uncover the eerie happenings in their hometown. Why do they awaken in strange places with blood on their clothes? Why are their parents sleepwalking through the streets at night? What is the source of the strange music emanating from beneath their homes? It's like a mix of ‘’Thie’’  and  ‘’Left4Dead’’, but with its unique flair. Setting up their headquarters in an abandoned rail carriage, the teenage team embarks on nightly missions into the neighborhood to investigate the mysterious entity invading their dreams. ”Lethal Company” Early Access Review: A Thrilling Dive into Cosmic Horror

Unearth the Unknown: Survive, Scavenge, and Conquer in a Procedurally-Generated Nightmare Imagine navigating the pitch-black corridors of an abandoned bunker, clad in nothing but a hazmat suit and flanked by your friends. Only, one of them isn’t a friend at all but a grotesque, white-eyed creature feasting on their remains and manipulating their body like a puppet. Welcome to Lethal Company, a cooperative survival horror game that plunges you and up to three friends into procedurally-generated depths of exoplanetary ruins. Here, you’re on a quest to unearth valuable loot, which you must then transport back to your ship and sell to your enigmatic, eldritch employers at the end of each round. The premise of ‘’Lethal Company’’ is deceptively simple yet remarkably engaging. The current early access build is packed with enough chaos and terror to make you lose track of […]

Review – Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

A Bold Yet Imperfect Reinvention of the Classic Formula Resident Evil 7: Biohazard dares to take bold strides within the storied horror franchise. While some risks hit the mark and others fall short, this first-person reimagining wisely harks back to the series' roots in survival-horror — emphasizing tense exploration and meticulous item management over pure action. This blend of innovation and nostalgia makes it the most enjoyable Resident Evil entry in years. The atmosphere in Resident Evil 7 is a triumph, largely thanks to the unsettling Dulvey plantation, where protagonist Ethan is lured by a mysterious email from his missing wife. If the original Resident Evil games drew inspiration from George A. Romero's zombie films, this installment channels the visceral horror of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, complete with grisly visuals, decrepit shacks, and cannibalistic terror. The Dulvey plantation is a […]

Amnesia: The Bunker – A Dark Survival Horror Done Right

Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series X|S Release Year: 2023 Developer: Frictional Games Scare Factor: 9 Genre: Survival-Horror, Adventure   Who would have guessed I'd end up bonding with a generator by week's end? It might just be the delirium talking exhaustion and fear morphing into shadows in these dim corridors (or are they just shadows?) but standing here next to my reliable, humming companion oddly comforts me. But the reality sinks in: lingering next to this generator for too long would spell certain doom. As safe as this spot feels with its steady furnace hum, survival hinges on venturing out into the labyrinthine tunnels and rooms that extend like arteries from this sanctuary. Fuel must be scrounged, codes deciphered, tools retrieved, and wounds tended with bandages. Bloodshed is inevitable down here, […]
