The first entry of Capcom’s iconic series is coming to next-gen consoles
Capcom has caught everyone off guard by announcing DEAD RISING DELUXE REMASTERED, an updated version of the first game in their classic zombie series, set to arrive soon on next-gen consoles. However, they have not yet specified which consoles or the exact release date.
Originally released on Xbox 360, the game follows Frank West, a freelance photojournalist in search of a big scoop. He follows a promising lead to a small town on the outskirts which turns out to be infested with zombies!
Frank manages to escape to the mall, thinking it will be a safe haven, but it turns out to be anything but. It becomes a real fight for survival against an endless stream of enemies. With complete control over the mall, Frank can use anything at his disposal to fend off the horde of flesh-hungry zombies and uncover the truth behind the horrific epidemic.
What is Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster?
Capcom has confirmed that this is a remake, describing it as an updated version of the game with a completely new visual look. Additionally, the company has stated that it will be released on current-generation platforms, meaning it will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, but not on PS4 and Xbox One.
The developers have also mentioned that the game will be released later in 2024. However, they have not provided a specific date beyond this. Capcom encourages us to stay tuned for more details about this remake, as very little information has been revealed so far.
What was the first Dead Rising about?
The first game in the franchise was released back in 2006 and offered a semi-open world zombie adventure like never before. This game stood out for two main reasons: the large number of zombies on screen and the ability to kill them with almost anything found lying around.
In terms of setting, Dead Rising put players in the shoes of Frank West, a journalist trapped in the middle of a zombie outbreak inside a mall, forcing him to do whatever it takes to survive.
It seems that the rumors from a few months ago about Capcom seeking to revive the IP were true. Who knows? If this remake sells well, the company might be encouraged to develop a fifth installment in the franchise. This release appears to be a move to gauge the community’s interest in the Dead Rising series.
