The spooky season is upon us once again, and Behaviour Interactive is delivering a Halloween treat for Dead by Daylight fans.
The much-anticipated Haunted by Dayligh event returns, along with exciting additions such as the Castlevania-inspired Tome DOMINUS and the next iteration of the 2v8 game mode. This year’s event promises more terrifying fun, fresh content, and special features to keep both killers and survivors on the edge of their seats.
Haunted by Daylight: New Twists for Halloween Horrors
The annual Haunted by Daylight event kicks off on October 17 and runs until November 7. Now in its third year, this spooky celebration brings back The Void with even greater significance. This time around, not only are there more portals to the Void Realm, but they remain permanently open once activated, ensuring that the terrifying unknown is more accessible than ever before. Players must collect Void Energy to open these portals, and for the first time in Dead by Daylight history, Killer Powers can now be used within the Void itself. Survivors will need to strategize carefully as the stakes have never been higher with these new role-specific Void Items, which can be crafted using Void Energy and have the potential to turn the tide of any trial.
Castlevania-Inspired Tome DOMINUS Brings Gothic Horrors
For fans of Castlevania, the upcoming Tome 21: DOMINUS is a thrilling addition to Dead by Daylight. Set to delve deeper into the lore of gothic horror, DOMINUS brings new stories, cosmetics, and memories that explore iconic characters such as Trevor Belmont, Dracula, and Alucard. This Tome is heavily inspired by the Castlevania universe, particularly the DS titles that recently received a re-release through the Castlevania Dominus Collection.
What sets this Tome apart is its exclusive Castlevania theme. Every item you can earn, including Outfits, Charms, Banners, and Badges, has either been pulled directly from the Castlevania world or is steeped in gothic horror. Highlights include the Legendary Soma Cruz Outfit for Trevor and the Visceral Legendary True Form Outfit for Dracula, complete with its own Mori finisher. For players who love to embrace the darker side of horror, DOMINUS is a must-play.
Haunting New Cosmetic Collections to Die For
Starting October 17, players can dive into Dead by Daylight‘s chilling new cosmetics. The Void Collection returns with stunning Outfits that showcase the haunting effects of a brush with the Void. This year’s additions include new Outfits for beloved survivors Kate Denson, Adam Francis, and Zarina Kassir, as well as the Collection’s first Killer Outfit, designed for The Plague.
For those looking for something a little less dark, the Tricks and Treats Collection offers a playful twist on Halloween. This collection introduces a group costume for survivors Sable Ward and Mikaela Reid, with Sable dressed as a spellcasting witch and Mikaela as her feline familiar. Other outfits include Yun-Jin and The Trickster, who are featured in Halloween concert-themed attire that can be earned through the event. These outfits are limited-edition, so make sure to grab them before they vanish!
Fans of the Hallowed Blight Collection will also be treated to grotesque, oozing new looks starting October 7. This popular collection expands with gruesome outfits for The Pig, The Good Guy, The Deathslinger, and others. Meanwhile, the Alien Collection is set to debut on November 7, offering the menacing Juggernaut Xenomorph and the iconic Pressure Suit for Ellen Ripley.
The Return of 2v8 Mode: Bigger, Better, and More Brutal
Players who enjoy Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 mode will be thrilled to know that a new version is launching from November 12 to November 26. The 2v8 mode expands beyond its original concept with more killers, maps, abilities, and strategic opportunities for both sides. The core group of killers from its debut—The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse, and The Huntress—are joined by new additions, including The Blight, The Spirit, and The Deathslinger. Additionally, iconic maps like Yamaoka Estate and the Grave of Glendale have been adapted for the 2v8 experience, alongside several new locations.
This enhanced mode features exciting new abilities for survivors. Each survivor class (Guide, Medic, Escapist, and Scout) now has two unique active abilities that can drastically change the game. These abilities charge over time and can be used in crucial moments, from speeding up repairs to reviving downed allies. In a game-changing twist, survivors can now recover from the Dying State as often as needed if they manage their abilities correctly. Additionally, each survivor class gains access to upgraded perks after being sent to a Cage, allowing for powerful comeback plays.
Killers also receive a major update with four distinct classes that enhance various aspects of the hunt. These classes help killers fine-tune their playstyle, adding more depth and strategy to the 2v8 mode while setting the foundation for future killer additions.
Experience the Haunt
As the excitement builds for the Haunted by Daylight event and the expanded 2v8 mode, Dead by Daylight continues to evolve, keeping its dedicated community hooked with fresh content and gameplay innovations. Available across multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, players can jump in and experience the horrors firsthand. Whether you’re a survivor trying to outsmart killers in The Void or a gothic horror fan seeking the perfect Castlevania outfit, there’s plenty to look forward to this Halloween season.
